Unique Lucy Lewis Acoma Pueblo C. 1940's Small Pottery Plate

We are offering an Acoma Pueblo pottery plate circa 1940's, decorated with fine line stylized humanoid with an animal figure; mimbres design, created by Lucy Lewis (1898-1992). Lewis is well known for her black fine line work on cream white slip. She is considered one of the matriarchs of American Indian pottery. Her work is in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of the American Indian, as well as the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, National Museum of Women in the Arts and others. This unique plate has a crimped/stamped pie crust edge. Signed "Lucy Lewis Acoma" on bottom, with original price. It measures 4 1/2" across in diameter and is 3/4" tall. In excellent condition.
