Pair Of Last Quarter 19th Century Sioux Indian Beaded Sinew Sewn Hide Moccasins
We are offering a pair of authentic Sioux Indian beaded moccasins, sinew sewn on native tanned hide, circa last quarter of the 19th century. Split tongues beaded in bars of white heart red, green and white with cobalt blue added across the top connecting bar overlay the vamps, two tin cones dangle at the end of each tongue. White heart red, cobalt blue, white and turquoise geometric designs float on a green field, surrounded by a white line that borders the bottom with interspersed white square center cobalt diamond and hourglass pattern and white heart red "double H" design. In very good original condition. Leather tops are supple, soles are rigid. Virtually no bead loss. Split tongues and tin cones are intact with no damage. Collars each have had a strip of fabric sewn to them at a later date. Each measures 10 1/2" x 3 3/4" and stands" tall at the back.
