California Rancho refers to a unique style based upon the furnishings of the early California Ranchos, which were large were Spanish and Mexican land grants where cattle and horses were grazed. Popular during the 1920's up into the 1950's, the California Rancho Style furniture and accessories exemplified the look and feel of the 18th and 19th century homes of the Dons. Monterey, Imperial, Coronado and Del Rey furniture incorporated distressed wood with handpainted decoration and forged iron ornamentation; Numerous makers produced pottery vessels glazed in vivid colors and tile work with geometric and scenic designs; A vast array of accent items, from lighting to decorated art objects to textiles, were produced to fill the needs of a booming California.
